America's veterans deserve better
As a candidate, Donald Trump made grand promises to improve life for veterans. But now that he's in the White House, he's all but forgotten the men and women who have served – even naming warmongering Ambassador John Bolton as his National Security Advisor.
Mr. President, a military parade in Washington, D.C., designed to stroke your ego, and warmongers in the Oval Office do not fulfill your promises to veterans in Pennsylvania and across the nation.
As Lieutenant Governor and as a Captain in the Pennsylvania National Guard, I've been privileged to work alongside veterans.
They represent the best of our nation. But the country they served is letting them down.
Veteran unemployment is higher than the national average. And too many former service members face medical challenges, food and housing insecurity, and substance abuse problems.
We can do so much more to ensure that veterans returning to civilian life can find good-paying jobs, education opportunities, and utilize every benefit they earned through service.
That's why, as Lieutenant Governor, I work every day to honor the veterans who have sacrificed so much for our nation's safety and security.
We can do more, and you can bet I'll keep up the fight to support our veterans.
